I thought you might like to see these pics of the only Tesla roadster in Australia.
The EV group had a field day yesterday at Goolwa and part of that was a ride in the Tesla up and down the airstrip.
This vehicle was ordered two years ago and there is still a waiting list of over 1,000 customers with cars on order, so there are still a lot of people with money to spend.
The electronics and software in this car are amazing as it cools/heats the batteries to maintain optimum life, reduces the power output of the motor if it is too hot, down to remembering the power output capability of where you plug the car in to recharge. (done by GPS location) It certainly has all the things one would have on a wish list for an electric car.
Maximum range is up to 500kms with a 0 to 100kph time of 4 seconds. It got up to about 160kph down the airstrip on each run, it actually felt like an aircraft does on takeoff for the first 100 metres or so the torque is so great and then tapers off as back to just really fast!
As you might be able to tell I was impressed
